How do you travel with your rods?

Got my Driftmaster setup, but when I move from place to place or trailer the boat, I get hooks in things(me included) and tangles. Is there an easy fix for this? Thinking of putting swivelsnap on main line and removing minnow rigs before moving. Thanks.

Traveling to the lake, I use the Driftmaster transport racks. Holds eight rods. I tie my minnow/ jig rigs directly to my main line. I will take the top hook and pull it tight towards the reel, and wrap it around the main line about three times. Then hook the bottom hook on the little hook keeper attached to the rod. I’ll wrap the line around the rod also for storage in the transport rack.

Go to dollar store buy you some cheap stretchy hair bands go over your pole and back through the hair band put your hook over hair band slide hair band up to take out the slack ! Kapoof no more tangles!

I attach hooks to the hook keeper on single hook lines and store them in rod socks. For spidder poles I attach the 2nd hook to the hook keeper, reel up slack, and burry the 1st hook in the end of the handle. Off the water, the spider poles get broken down and stored in my rod locker in a rod socks.

Hook your bottom hook in the hook keeper on rod, don't reel all the slack out of your line, Grab the top jig, weight or just the line and hold it in one hand. With the other hand start twisting your pole 3-5 wraps then put the line that is in your hand around a eyelet.

Thanks, that sounds like it would work well. Picked up some BPS lure keepers to try, along with some materials to tie some jigs.

That’s how I’ve been doing it for years, and never had any issues whatsoever.

I was having the same problem and read Slabprowler reply and put it to the test yesterday, worked perfectly. Quick simple solution to stop my tangle problem, even held 3/4 oz sinkers. After making the loop and sinching to rod pass the other end through the swivel on the sinker and loop over sinker, slide the part attached to rod tight.

I flip the float around the rod also. But then I like shorter rods, 7' is long for me. Carry my rods in holder's I made and screwed into the side of the top rail of my boat. Only carry four at a time and they ride straight up.
