Any time you are hooking fish is fun! To me, there are different degrees of fun.. and spider rigging/trolling, float fishing, and bottom fishing are not my favorite but I still do it and enjoy catching fish that way to a point. And like I already said, rigging can be very effective! Heck I spend a lot of time bottom fishing for catfish in the summer, talk about low-skill fishing! But its still fun and effective to catch some fish!

I really really enjoy feeling that tick of a crappie eating a jig, but you will see me trolling quite often throughout the summer! It's just that feeling of adrenaline when you know you just tricked a fish into eating a piece of plastic on a piece of lead/steel because of the way you worked it with your hands. Its addicting.

As for not catching crappie from a bank so need to troll, you can jig fish out in the flats too if the schools are not roaming. Plenty of times I've trolled into a school then nothing for a while, then when I got back to that gps spot the fish were still there. So out comes the jig rods and we sit there and cast jigs in the middle of nowhere catching fish. Talk about strange looks from other anglers! That just speaks to your last statement though, have to have that bag of tricks! A one trick pony will only win one award.
