Jig Help?

Hey. I fish in the florida swamp shallows, am new to Crappie fishing, but spent some time doing some research here and gathered what materials I could. I decided to go with a fixed bobber, split shot and jig. So, after browsing the local stores I was able to get some 1/16 chartreuse marabou jigs, 1/32 pink marabou jigs and 1/32 chartreuse plastic jigs (curly tail). I know that I should try all of these out, but what should I expect to have the best luck with that I should start on the line? I would have ideally found a 1/32 chartreuse marabou jig. I am trying for crappie, but would take any panfish large enough to eat. Additionally, do I need to bait the jig or will I still have some luck without any minnows, worms or artificial bait on the jig? thanks,

Looks like you have a good start. Good color picks, too.

Your "curly tail" plastics are going to need some movement to really be very effective ... so I'd be casting them along the outside edges of weed beds. The others can be used that way, also ... as well as dipped or jigged in the weed bed openings.

They will all work "alone", most of the time ... but, tipping them with live or artificial items can sometimes up your odds of getting a fish to bite.

If I use plastics, should I be reeling in slowly before a bite or just let the jig sit in front of the weeds?

I am concerened about missing fish by upsizing the jig (more than a 1/32). Do you think that certain sunfish will be too small to bite the 1/16 or would those fish not be big enough to eat anyway?

I would lose the bobber and split shot and just use the jig. Reel slowly.

I can remove the bobber set up if it isnt ideal. I only put it on after reading the members here using them. Which of those three jigs would you recommend I use?

In shallow water, I'd go with 1/32 or 1/64.

If I'm fishing a moving bait (like a jig), I don't normally use a float.

Looks like a heavier jig with no extra weight would help detect bites better .

Use the Chartruse jigs first, go to the pink second. Use Crappie nibbles for minnows.
