    Default Wouldn't take the jig

These wouldn't do more than tap the jigs I dropped or reeled through them. I only know they were crappie because one followed a jig to the surface. I tried different colors and styles and nibbles. Water was very clear. Other than minnows, what would you try?

    A smaller jig

Vertical Casting ( Crappie Pappy Article )

And set the hook on ALL "taps" ... don't wait for the rod to bend or for you to "feel" the fish !!

Sometimes they're just not in a biting mood (not hungry) but will still "nip" at your bait ... maybe to chase it away, maybe just out of curiosity, etc.

Sometimes it's best to leave "them" and go check out another spot, then come back to them and hope they've gotten "hungrier" in the meantime (& that they haven't wandered off).

Just watched a You Tube video out of Canada , and it showed that sometimes ANY fish will hit a plain round jig head and leave a dressed one alone. I'm going to give it a try when I find a school that won't bite. Said it was cause they are programed as minnows an such to eat fish egg if they float buy...maybe a small bead on a hook.
I thought fish trembled when they heard my name.......then I heard the laughter

Keep downsizing the jig and changing colors until something works. Dropping jig size/weight lets the bait fall slower through the school of fish and can be more enticing. Same for changing colors. You don't know if white, orange, or black are the hot colors until you try them. If that doesn't work, try going bigger, or giving a different action on the retrieve.

    Good luck.
