Don't know, as I only use the multi-strand mono style and the plastic Y guard style weedguards on my jigs. I have all my weedless jigheads custom made by Grousefly. I get 1/32 & 1/16oz heads with a #2 Aberdeen hook in them, and the Y shaped weedguard. (the bottom post of the Y is embedded into the leadhead, so the weedguard looks like a V coming out of the head)
I would think that the multi-strand wire guards would be a little bit stiffer than the mono ones, but if you're fast enough on the hookset, the fish won't have time to notice.
You can hang up ANY weedless jig, no matter what style weedguard it has on it ... so if you're looking for the wire style to help keep your jig from hanging up, then you're likely to be disappointed. Case in point : I was fishing down in Tenn earlier this week, casting a Y guard style jighead ... and somehow managed to hook a soda can in the pull taband landed it
I've used the multi-strand mono & Y guard style weedless jigheads from Grousefly for nearly 15yrs, and catch fish on them. I've never lost a fish from the fault of the jighead, and in fact probably landed quite a few of them that I would have lost on a open hook jig, simply because the weedguard wouldn't allow the hook to flop free from the lip hooked fish ... even with a gaping hole in the jaw membrane.
