Spider Rigs -Variations and different types

Main line heavier than leader. Slide egg sinker on main,tie swivel then leader about a foot. Use snap to change jig or hook. Just one to pole and use weedless jig if you can get them.

I'm thinking that would be a best "all around" setup personally. Thus why I asked about starting a sticky or a consolidated setup list. There has already been several listed. I will consolidate a list with images and post them at the initial post later.

I've also wondered if a modified Carolina rig of sorts where the barrel sinker is above a barrel swivel and then leaders dropping off below the larger barrel sinker. That way if you hang up, you break off the leader, not the main line and you don't loose the entire rig.

I'm using 6lb Pline CCX by the way. Amazing line strength and fish seem to not notice it even in clear water. (moss green color)

My suggestion other than doing searches for spider rigging help and tactics would be hire a guide once. I only single pole , quit minnows and trolling years ago. There are some on here that could teach you alot with one guide trip , money well spent.

Nimrod don't need but one hook on one pole. He sometimes may use a pole in each hand with one jig on each. If you ain't been with him, you are missing out on an amazing learning experience. I want to go with him again and get him to land a fish on video. It is some kind of crazy.


I have used several variations of capps n coleman rigs and also kentucky rigs. My favorite is the Capps and coleman with 10 lb main line and #6 leaders. If you get hung and need to break off, you will often just lose one hook. Light wire hooks are OK, but I have had problems with them, so they are not my favorite. I will not use a capps and coleman with the line wrapped through the weight. If you catch a bunch of fish, you will get to see a good one break off the line right at the bottom of the weight. I'm not saying this is the best, but this is what works for me.

I have tried several versions. I have used the duolocs and fasnaps. I have gone back to just tying my own version of the Capps and Coleman minnow rigs. I just tie own what I want (I.E. gnats, critters, jigs, or just plane hooks). I also use the noodles to store in a B&B bait box.

Check this out, started using these and really like them. You arent gonna lose any lead as long as the main doesnt break. the weight actually will slip so the fish dont feel it as much when they bite (in theory).
