Umbella rigs
Everyone seems to be raving about these. I might give them a whirl but just wondering if anyone here has used them and what kind of success they've had?
-
I like em. Down here we call em Alabama rigs. I have had the most success fishing them when bass were schooling up on shad. I retrieve it fairly quickly through the schools of baitfish. I won several of them in a tourney a couple years ago, they've come in handy. I have been using the Yumbrella rigs with Money Minnows.

They dominated a tournament we were in last month on Table Rock. I only had one rig with me and caught a 3lb spotted bass early then lost my rig a couple cast's later in a tree top. Every fish weighed in that tournament was caught on an A- rig or some variation of it.

Foxy, did you mean for bass or for crappie? I have seen variations of the A-rig down here used for fishing several jigs or minnows at once.

we have been wearing the smallmouth out on them ,the bite is tapering off now that the water is warming up ,,if your not throwing one you wont cash a check around here

A-rigs are great when the Bass are tearing up the bait fish, only problem is after a day of throwing one around, it'll wear your arm and shoulder out... but some of the biggest Bass i've seen have come off them. Be sure to check your regulations though, different states have different rules as to how many hooks you can throw on one.
Oh and for the white perch fisherman, they make smaller variations for that specific fishing.

Well I took the plunge and purchased a Yumbrella flash mob jr. Looks just the right size to use for any species. I'm going try trolling with some Gulp! alive minnows as I've had success with those around here. Am fishing for bass but if I use 3" minnows, I'm sure I'll land a slab or 2. Was going to try using senko worms, which i use 90% of the time while bass fishing but bass seem to hit them on the fall most of the time rather than swimming them, plus that'd be one super heavy rig. Going out this weekend, will let everyone know how it goes
