    Default Windy Day On Grand

it was a windy day on grand friday and for those of you that have fished it know what a 15-20 mph wind is like over there...i only managed to bring home 13 fish...the weather change really slowed things down and they were alot deeper...i did get this 16 incher and a couple of 15s out of the bunch longlining road runners in 14-17' of water.

cp, i primarily use 1/16 oz rrs in the chartruse color...i use crappie thunder, mid south jigs, southern pro hot grubs and even yum beaver tail bodies. black/chartruse is my go to color but i've had alot of success lately on a ms black/pink body...i'll add a sinker for a faster or deeper presentation...i've cuaght 'em moving as fast as 2.3 mph but most of the time around 1 mph this time of year.

Thanks Gasper, I have been seeing some good stuff on a black/pink yum wooly beaver tail. Todd Huckabee's favorite bait and color says he wears em out on Lake Eufula and called it one of the best kept secrets in crappie fishing. Saw this in a site called the North American fishing club, also a great article on there right now about summer slabs, check it out if you want. CP

lol...that's exactly why i started using them...read the same article on todd and another one on how he and co-anglers used that bait and color combination to catch enough fish in 2 weeks to feed a crowd of something like 400 people but don't quote me on that number..been awhile since i read it....it works regardless...good bait

yep! wind wiped me out around noon with 12 keepers and some nice ones. Nothing larger than 14" or so. when that wind on Grand gets up, you better have everything tied down tight!! saw several small boats almost in trouble trying to get back across with the wind coming out of the SSW @ 15-18 MPH. Tough! Trying Washington tomorrow.
