    Default Old Town?

I finally have a weekend to my own and was thinking about trying Old Town Lake. Does anyone have a report from there? Is the spillway open? I have heard that if the spillway is open that the fishing is slow. Maybe Bear Creek would be better. Has anyone fished there lately? Thanks.

    Gutshot,

Haven't heard anything about either place. But I have to ask who is the cougar cat standing next to you? I think his claim to fame use to be his hair, because it sure isn't his ability to catch crappie.

That is Mike alright. He posts on here as "Roll".The original "Ladies Man". He is my big brother. I played football and baseball at Helena also. I was 2 years behind him. I don't know what his claim to fame is now but he is still awfully concerned about the hair. As a matter of fact he keeps a hair brush and a mirror in his boat with him and brushes it after any time the motor gets used. I take it that you taught or coached with him? Actually he is a pretty darn good fisherman and hunter now. Not as good as me mind you......but very good nonetheless He and I are trying to find a place to fish this weekend. We usually get together about once or twice a month to fish but the weather and business has messed that up lately. Mike if you are out there you better show up to defend yourself before petercreek and I get started on you and your hair or this may get ugly for you

I haven't been there--or anywhere for that matter-- in several weeks. Been wondering what the water looks like too.

How have you been Polebender? I still have not heard anything concrete on Old Town and it is getting late. I have heard some good reports from Storm Creek lake of all places. I think I may bring my small boat that has an 8 Yamaha on it so that I can have the options of Old Town, Bear Creek Lake and Storm Creek Lake. I hate to waste this beautiful weekend so I am going to go ahead and just see what happens.

Thanks. We may try that as well. I spoke with Mike earlier. We will be fishing the Delta area.

    Gut Shot,
Does Mike make you bring the refreshments also? I know his two favorites are free and cold. Good luck this weekend. Hope the both of you limit out.

I am constantly suprised at the amount of people that know Mike. Not a fishing trip goes by that someone that knows him from a long time ago or someone he has coached in the past does not come up to him and visit. He has countless friends all across the state and he has played a positive part in so many young mens lives in that state. To answer your question he is still extremely vigilant about keeping up with his hydration:D. He always brings enough for an army and insists on sharing. We abuse each other from daylight to dawn but the truth is the reason that I travel all that distance from where I live in Alabama about twice a month for several months out of the year is more about his company than it is the fishing.
