In my experience with peckerwood, you are in the post spawn phase of this lake. If you have good electronics, then find the "channel" that typically is along the middle of the lake at the outside edge of the lilly pads. The fish are generally suspended there this time of year.
As far as the muddy water goes, (chris will never let me live this down but here it goes) minnows typically work better. The natural movement and smell of the live bait is easier for the crappie to identify. Minnows used in this type of water need to be of a larger than normal crappie size minnow also. Try tipping a jig with the minnow as well.
If this doesn't pan out, I would suggest fishing the flooded timber where they could be feeding in "fresh" areas that they normally cannot "hunt" for food in.
If you happen to get lucky and have the water clear, then black/chart. works well around the lilly pads. At normal lake level this time of year they are usually 12-18" deep in 4 FOW. But who knows with all of this rain.![]()
