Try very small jigs or weighted flies. Used a ''Rockhopper ''(black) and tipped with chartuse crappie nibble under a small cork in the past on Conway. Those Redears love them nibbles, I don't use them for crappie but redears they work. The Redears are spooky fish and casting to them worked better for us.
