    Default Greers Ferry Crappie III

Went to GF yesterday with my dad, man was it windy Tried lower end of the lake, cove creek and the big dike with little success. the water temp was 54 there. Might try later as it warms up. Went back to middle fork and hill creek and finally caught some :D the water temp there was 60, go figure.
Worked the brush along the shoreline, caught 6 keepers and one 16" walleye.
Dad's chompin at the bit to go back.

D-ray I think this weekend and next week should really be good on the north end of the lake so be sure to take your Dad back up there.

I agree Creekslick, unless they change the forcast this weekend looks good, have you tried chocktaw or the far end of devil's fork? middlefork and hillcreek are getting fished pretty heavily.

No I have been fishing the main lake. All I have been doing is trolling.

I'm surprised that the water temp in Cove Creek and the dike were so much lower than Middle Fork and Hill Creek.

I guess it might have something to do with the water debth or the sheer size of cove creek. Something else that was different was the water clarity. some of the brush we were in was water that was 6 to 8 ft deep and you could see all the way to the bottom.

Your stained water is always going to warm faster than the clear stuff.

We have got surface temps all over the map out here right now. The majority of the fish have NOT spawned yet and this weekend's 20+ MPH south wind is going to be fun. Gotta chase the green carp for the derby this weekend. I had the long rod in my hands the last couple of days with marginal sucess. Devil's fork is pumping with current and we saw very few crappie's landed in there on the flats. Sugar Creek Camp area was slow as well.
