    Default Lake Conway/Two Prong Attack

Friday evening found them on a black and Chart and white and chart tube in some standing main lake cypress, caught six nice slabs before it got dark on me. Got up Sat morning on the lake by 4 am went back to the same place and was nailing them on yoyo's and caught 6 more nice slabs jiggng around the trees as the sun came up, limited out in four hours also got two nice whites and channels. Great morning on the water. The four I am holding all went between 15-16 inches long. Two on yoyos and two on a jig. Looks like the bite is starting on Conway agian in the main lake Live Cypress stands. CP

I'll let y'all know hows it goes...but anything is better than 5" crappie hand over fist.

OK folks, I'm going to Conway this coming weekend and camping out on CP's porch. As he jigs, I'm gona jig! As he casts, I'm gona cast!...etc.

CP, didn't you say sometime ago that your freezer is busting at the seams? I have a freezer with only a turkey from 3 Christmas's ago - I have plenty of room!

way to go CP,i have been seeing quite a few folks bringing in 2lb+ crappie from the cypress trees off of gold lake, and or just anywhere on the lake if you just tightlne by the "living cypress" trees.most all of the locals that come here oct-april put in at lawrence landing now and go straight out.they have been catching them regularlly and will throughout coming months.the reason you dont see reports is they all got the shutmouth worse than the fish.so there it is you can go anywhere on this lake and catch them on willing days.CP is a great fisherman and is about the only one that will give out this information.there are lots of others that wont tell you.fish aroond 6' deep any living trees, and hold on.seem to be all big ones on them trees.catcth one or two and move to the next living tree.

Thanks Guys for your comments, I am blessed with a job that affords me allot of time on the water and too live so close to a lake that just keeps kicking out size and numbers of good fish. Im a little bias here but too me lake Conway is Central Arkansas' best crappie lake. It stays a good fishery because there is acers and acers of log jams and timber so thick you can't get too em unless you use dynomite. Yes Shimmy my freezer was full but allot of my Family and Friends have taken care of that problem for me, but if i dig around in there a lil, ill bet I could find a fillet or two for you, and you can get rid of that Christmas turkey. CP

Conway Tip: As you fish around the Cypress tress with a trimmed split tail MidSouth super jig tube white/Chart, Black/Chart, Yellow/White, 1/32 head try tipping with a minnow or without a minnow try pitching your jig in to the pockets around the trees and along logs and let the jig fall in a pendalum motion back towards the boat where the jig would end up just off the bottom if below the boat as too what ever depth your fishing and hold on. Remember a crappie nibble helps that fish hold on to the bait a few seconds longer And always and I mean always, use a small loop knot and slightly bend the hook gap out, when jig fishing JMO. CP

Thanks for the tips, CP. I'm going to be sure to give those standing cypress a try each time I head up there from now on. Maybe one of these days I'll get the courage to cruise around there at night and run some yo-yos. It would be nice if I lived on the lake too!!!:D
