    Default midway

Does anyone have any information on midway. I have never fished there and was wondering how it was affected by the river stages.

That's about right as far as I know. 21-23' on the Memphis gauge...depending on who you ask. I believe the lady that runs the Jones camp says 21'. The lake is relatively shallow with the deepest parts being 8' that I know of. Most of it is 4' or less, especially up in the big and little kildees. Outside bend deeper than inside bend. You might be able to find 'em up in the buckbrush on the inside bend, just down from Ed's. Lots of cypress to try as well.

It's been a long, long time since I heard a good report on Midway. I sure hope you can give me one here soon. Good luck.

The river gets in Midway at 23-23.5 on the Memphis gauge. Last week they were catching fish trolling and they were nice fish. No big numbers but were a couple of high teen numbers brought in.

I went to Midway today. I'm 99% sure I was the only boat on the water...that's not a good sign.

Due to the wind, I could only fish the south end. I fished from about 8am till noon. I caught 2 catfish, 2 white bass, and 1 drum. I threw the bass and drum back and kept the catfish...that'll be dinner tomorrow night.

This was the 1st time I've ever fished at Midway and NOT caught a crappie. I have a lot of confidence in this lake and know it pretty well...maybe it will heat up in a month or so.

P.S. I've heard a few good reports coming from Old Town...but I'm sure this cold snap will slow things down a bit.

I agree---I'm convinced those things go through spawning beds like a vacuum cleaner. They're too big for the crappie to run off their beds.
