No Crappie but White Bass

I know this is a Crappie forum, but I wish to report 16 White Bass today. Caught between 7:30am-10:00am on white grub:


All from 1-1/2 to 3lbs.

Tried for Crappie after lunch at Pickthorn, but no such luck. However, others did well.

We talk about all the other panfish so these are okay. Besides they're fun to catch and will put a bend in your UL pole.

Yes, most definately wonderful action. Just remember to bring about 2 dozen jigs - after about catching 3, that jig will be torn to pieces!

Location: Maumelle Creek, there is a parking area immediately after the second bridge on Hwy 10 towards perryville. I will walk back in there about 1/3 of a mile to the creek channels (in blue):



Pro: Fast, Fun, reel-stripping action.

Con: After 16 fish, your stringer gets too heavy and to many fish to clean! You literally have to drag them out of there.

I do have a boat, but I'm not chancing it since it's tight and many down trees. Also, this place isn't a secret. On the weekends, this place is like a car lot with as many as 10-15 trucks!

Thanks , I drive by that place alot in the last 40 years. Hear it can be good, just lotsa folks. The road is rough
too, best to walk.
