Default Good day on Grand (pics)

Got to the lake at around noon and started fishing in the 5-6 ft water on the flats but the yellow bass were tearing me up. I moved to the deeper water (15 ft) and started trolling six 16-ft poles 1-2 feet deep with Bobby Garland jigs. I was able to catch 35 nice Crappie by 5:00. The limit is 30 so I threw 5 back. There were 8 that went over 2 lbs and the largest went 2 lbs 12 oz. The wind was calm on Grand today which is very rare and made for a great day. The females were all over the lake but suspending at 1-6 ft. A few more warm days and they will be back in the shallows.

Some really nice fish there Steve, and some very impressive size. I'm going to have to get down there and try them. Not set up for trolling but maybe can catch some anyway. Those are some good pictures too, thanks for the report and pictures.

    A bad day of fishing
beats a good day at work.

    Jerry,
With the warm days coming up they should be in the trees by this weekend. The best way to fish in there is with an ultralite rig throwing a jig under a cork. There should be some real good action starting in the next few days....Steve

Thanks Steve, I'll have to try that. Those males are sure getting dark, they're about ready.

That is what I call a "Grand" day. Great catch Steve. Thanks for the report and pics. That is a fine lookin young man in the photo with ya too!

1-2 foot deep in 15 FOW....I think it is safe to say that I would have been fishing a little to deep!!! Good job.

Good luck and stay after em.
