Default No crappie on Ouachita today BUT...

...I landed two four-pound plus and one two-pound lm in and around the main point at Mountain Harbour.

They'll do for a substitute, I reckon. I caught all three on 6 lb test Mr. Crappie and a ultra-light rig; the 2 four pounders were 18.5" and caught on a crappie hook and No. 5 minnows. The 2 pounder was caught on a Bandit 300, Tennessee Shad (old reliable). One of the four pounders I caught on my new Wally Marshall 14' rod. Way to break it in, huh?

I'm hittin' the brush piles at Twin Creeks tomorrow. Retirement is all it's cracked up to be. :D

Sounds like fun! I fished my first tourny down there 11- 12 yrs ago in March... you land more than I did with the 2 lder. lol It was just me though cause Penny Pendleton came in with 19 lbs. I did better my next tourny on Dardenelle came in 2nd with 16 lbs. Quachita was a beatiful lake the time I fished it. I was overwhelmed with the size of it and the cold that day!
Was that a bite? Forgot what they feel like!

Ouachita is usually unkind to me. But it is my 'home' lake. I rarely boat a limit of anything because of the water clarity and I gotta face it. There's just a lot of places for the fish to hide in this 40,000 acres.

But I love it and can't get enough of it. Can't wait 'til in the mornin.

Default I went back to Twin Creeks today and after 10 hours...

...I'm still lookin' for my first fish. I couldn't even get the bass to bite. I fished brush piles and even the channel, slow trollin'. I did all I knew how and it just wasn't happenin'.

I hope you do well at Mountain Harbor with the rosies. Let me know. Depending upon the weather I may well be there. If you see a 21' Sweetwater pontoon, stop by for a coke!
