    There are a ton of skipjacks below the dam at Batesville. I think there are a lot of shad as well, but I can't say for sure.

    Just below the dam is alot of skipjack herring like Blair said. About 1/4 mile down river at the water treatment plant discharge ditch I have caught a few gizzard shad but don't think it would be worth the trip from Hot Springs.
