I reckon you mean by "keeping your baits down" you mean using a larger sinker to keep the line more taunt?

This time of year I'm using a tandum drop shot rig w/ a 1/4 oz bell sinker, and if deep (25-30'), I go to a 1/2 oz rig and fish on the channel bottom just above where the electronics say the fish are. I've dropped to 6 lb line because of the clear water but all that being said, it just ain't happenin' much for me on Ouachita, as far as crappie are concerned. Any suggestions? I'm going Sunday afternoon and several days next week. I plan on fishing the moss/weedline edges with my boat over the weeds casting to the open water and working a jig, spoon, gay blade or whatever, slowly to the weed line.

Thanks a million for your input.

Yes, we are fishing as we usually do on hardwood brushpiles and the bamboo condos. Some people do go heavier to help keep the bait down, but I was referring more to boat control, using the trolling motor to keep the boat held in one spot.
