white oak lake

I am going to be spending a couple of days in April camping and fishing on White Oak Lake.
Can anyone tell me if the Bridge/Walkway that goes from the campground to the Marina is high enough that I can motor underneath it in my jonboat? Also which is better for crappie, upper or lower White Oak.

Welcome aboard. I have never crappie fished white oak, but have bass fished it a couple times. There are some huge green carp in that lake and from what I have heard, there are some really slab crappie there as well. Good luck!

on the ark sportsmans mag site click on crappie and then i believe it was natural state crappie forecast. cant remember what all it said about white oak but maybe it will help ya out a lil

I don't know much about White Oak either. However, my old high school principal fished that lake alot for crappie and always did really well. If I see him, I'll ask which part of the lake he fished.

I have been camping & fishing at White Oak for 10 years. I visit in Feb-Mar. from WI. yearly. Upper & lower both are good fishing. I'm sure you can travel under the bridge you speak of - last year in the campground "pond" during March it was a zoo catching crappie, they were really in there - Black's and excellent size, people taking limits again & again, it really got boring believe it or not. Word spread quickly and the shore was jammed with people taking limits of excellent sized fish for about 10 days. Another cpl. of good lakes nearby are Bragg and Gurdon which I fish alot. I flyfish only, from a cataraft I bring down yearly rather than my boat. Big LM/Bass last year on Gurdon - 6 lbs. Largest Crappie - 19-7/8 inches - 3 lbs 10 0z. off of Millwood, N/end. Gurdon has nice crappie also and the gills & redear are huge. Bragg is good for LM/Bass & crappie also. Crappie avg. on both lakes 12-15 inches. Flies, do the trick!

I agree with..Flyrod Man. This is one mighty fine Crappie haven. Also some mean Bass to try and pull out from the trees there. I've fished White Oak Lake back in the early 1970's till two years ago. I would meet with a old crappie fishermen at Conway, and we pull the bass rig down to White Oak. We would make the trip ever two years in the month of April. Could not get under that old bridge with the bass boat, due to it's only about 5' above water level depending on the lake level. One could make it under the bridge in a Jon boat... I think.

If it was me, I wouldn't spread the news about how great the fishing can be on White Oak. It doesn't get any fishing pressure from too far, just mostly the locals...Camden, Magnolia fishermen.
