What you think about the AR Game and Fish stocking lakes in Hot Springs Village? We pay for that, but we can't go fish them lakes.

I don't think they need to be worrying about stocking waters, I think they need to be concentrating on how they are going to kill those jumping carp we have all over our water systems they are ruining the oxbow lakes we have to fish out of. what do you think about that sir.

What time of the year do they normally stock crappie? Cause I didn't see any crappie being stocked during December according to their list.

Crappie are not high on the stocking lists. The Channel /Blue Catfish and Trout get stocked in the state most of the time.
On the stocking of private lakes it does not sound right. But those folks have to buy fishing licences and pay the 1/8 th cent sales tax too. Also if they fish the private waters , it takes fishing pressure off our public water.

I ain't saying its right or wrong, but it is true about the 1/8 cent sales tax that everyone pays, its the same monies that pays for the nature centers ......... A bunch a folks disagree with them but I feel that if just one knucklehead thinks twice about dumping in a watershed after having been to one of the nature centers then all of the money was well spent. Everyone supports the AGFC now, and has for years. Also put it in the context that the AGFC is "protecting" our hunting/fishing heritage in this state, and don't think for a minute that groups like PETA don't want to see it all go away. Now if some "influential" grandmother's grandson catches his first fish out of a Hot Springs Village pond ........ and she shouts her praises for the AGFC from the mountaintops?????? you can like the AGFC or not, you may think they are doing eneough or not, but it would be alot worse without them. Just some thoughts, have a blessed weekend. Jim.

    Hey Doug:

I don't have a problem with the AG&FC putting fish in the "private lakes" in Hot Springs Village since residents there support the program with the purchase of fishing licenses and the 1/8th% sales tax. And I believe anyone that wishes to can fish those lakes if they want to by staying there as a guest or when invited there by a resident. Also, since HSV gets a lot of out-of-state guests it bodes well for our state if those that choose to fish while they are there have a better chance of catching something.

Maybe it has changed, but there once was a clause that stated that if the AR G&F stocked the pond & or lake, the owners had to grant access to the public or pay for the fish that were stocked. At least that is the way it was explained to me when we were talking about building a pond and having it stocked.

When we voted to fund AGFC with sales tax revenue the AGFC became the AgfC. They lost a lot of accountability to the average hunter and fisherman.
