Although they have been spotty this year, my time to fish has been spotty to ......... from about the first of december until up in April, if the river is tolerable, and with flow, I have caught good messes of crappie with Kentuckies and a few sauger thrown in, fishing the tailwaters below dams 3 and 4, down to the first wing dike. Casting jigs in the current eddies.

Man that was some kind of run on sentence.

Were you fishing the dam or some of the back waters? Them being in the livewell in the boat, I'm guessing away from the dam. Good to see the river picking up, all that fishing time I have built up is fix'n to start pouring out.

Hey JLeus, been wondering where you've been. Missed seeing you at Cane Creek this fall, you missed some good ones. That looks like one of them crappie in your avatar. Look forward to some of your reports when you start collecting on that fishing time. Good Luck.

    A bad day of fishing
beats a good day at work.

Yes, Pendleton is on the Arkansas River. I caught these in the backwaters of the coal pile-annex area.

A guy that I know who works for the game & fish and does shocks on the river told me that you would be really surprised at the number and size of crappie that they shock up in the main river channel. He said most little irregularities in the river bank will be holding 5 to 6 bigguns.

Really nice fish, but are you jiggin' the eddies or fishin' deeper holes?

    Thanks for reporting.

Hey Jerry, I've been around. Had'nt had much time but to lurk on here. My outboard repair biz really took off this fall/winter with the duck hunters. I made CC one time last fall. Thats a spring time tailwater crappie in my avatar, I hav'nt seen CC yet that shirt sleeves would do, man the wind was blowing the day I was there. I think it was the second weekend after you posted about your 3 pounder.

Good to hear the Ark. river is picking up. Theres some good ones to be had, and just about the easiest fishing you will ever do. Spent many an early evening fileting a mess after an hour or so down there after work. Jim.
