I have tried several brands (including homemade) of rod holders and the absolute best I have found are made by Hi-Tek. They can be found at:

Does anyone have any suggestions for rod holders on a 542 war eagle boat. The ones war eagle makes to fit the T-lock rail have to much angle and the rods stick up at a 45. I made the mistake of ordering the spider rig they make for the front of the boat and it has the same problem.

There's so many different options on rod holders, it's hard to decide. You can go the cheap route and make your own, or you can spend the money...if you decide to spend the money, I agree with luvpt that the Hi-Teks are the way to go. Either way, the shorter you can keep the riser, the more study it will be, especially mounting onto aluminum floor.
Here's my current set-up...for the time being...

hey Cheez im havin the same problem. wonder if you can bend them?? im afraid they might break.![]()
If it will hold cornmeal it's big enough for me !!!!!!!!!
Although I do not "spider rig" I have these on my 1648 war eagle
They are RAM revolution tube holders. They pivot at the ram mount and then the swivel at the middle of the tube as well- rods slide in & out with no snags. Perfect for all types of fishing, ultralight and heavy rods fit well.

Thanks for this post guys. I am also struggling with wanting to put some rod holders on my boat without spending hundreds of $$$.
Cheezy,
I bent mine and works like a champ. I do like the t-rail system but wish their was a third party making parts for it.
I built these for my Ranger...you could probably change the mount to suit your needs...but they are fully articulated...so you can move them all around. I have 150 bucks in three of them including the rod holders which were 80 bucks of that 150. That bought 12...I made 3 mounts. All materials were bought new also.
Here is are pics of it
Here is a link to the thread with some other pics.

Don't know if that will help but its what I built. If you have any questions about it just pm me or something and I'll tell you or take measurements of it for you.
