If you catch one in AR waters, I would keep it and GPS your fishing location and call or take it to the AGFC HQ and let them know where and when you caught it, and show them the fish or a pic of the fish. They need to know this info.

The fish in the above pictures is a snakehead. Here is a good link to an article from the u.s. fish and wildlife dept. Kill them if you catch them. They are bad news to our waters.

Thanks for all the information on this fish that gbaddour1 caught.
Why? cann't your fishing tackle handle them *LOL*
I'll never kill a bowfin,to much funny in landing one those peacock bass as I call them b/c of the dot on the tail.Have landed several 10 plus on 4# test with a 1/32 jig.It will tear up spinnerbaits, buzzbaits in a heartbeat b/c he is the meanest, badest and most disliked fish in the oxbows. There is nothing like a good blood rush when one those things hits a buzzbait or spinnerbait when seaching for that monster bass.I turn them all loose to tear up another bass fisherman tackle or for him to get the shear enjoyment in fighting a Bowfin(peacock bass).
Now the snakehead may be a different story, haven't caught one yet or know nothing as in how good they taste fried. The Bowfin is a native fish as the reason I do not kill,I do hear tell some people enjoy eating them. The only reason I'll kill a snakehead is b/c we have been ask to.This too may be another fish that will destory buzzbaits and spinnerbaits as they sorta look alike, almost.I hear tell they'll eat every fish in the lake even their own, sounds like a bowfin killer for sure not counting all the crappie, crappie, crappie and crappie.
