Hi all. I just found this forum. You guys seem to be a great bunch of people. I'm looking forward to learning some new stuff and adding some trip info myself.
My best friends that I grew up with and some family members are headed to Nimrod next weekend to do some crappie and bass fishing.
None of us are very experienced on this lake. Any current tactics or info on where and how deep to fish would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi TMD...welcome aboard....I look forward to your posts.
Hi Tree, I fish Nimrod all the time. I don't have time right now but I'll get back on later this weekend and give you some tips for up here.
NIMROD is another local that fishs almost daily.
Talk to you later!

CATCH A BIG-UN
I would wait a while bud.
The lake is fed primarily by the Fourch La Fave River and we just got a bunch of rain last week. As someone said, the lake is WAY up and the fish will be scattered...really scattered.
I don't fish it often but I went before the high water hit and had a ball. If you do go anyway, make sure you are 100% legal in every respect. The local fish cops there go out of their way to stick any fisherman they can, no matter how trivial.
I'm not lookin' for an argument from anyone else concerning the fish cops on this lake, but it is an absolute FACT.
Otherwise, have fun and let us know how you do. As for me little ole' self, I am going to high-water Ouachita tomorrow to drop a few tops.

Hey Tree, Just got back to the computer, I can tell you that if you don't know where to go, the lake can be a little intimidating since it has very little visible cover left.
You always can catch a few good fish by tightling minnows about 10 to 11 feet deep along the river channel edges. Go out over the deep water until your depthfinder says about 15 feet and then turn back in to the river channel edge.
Most of our most productive brushpiles are in 8 to 10 feet of water.
Expect to catch a lot of small crappie but there are definately some hogs out here. We catch a lot of 2's and a few 2 1/2 lbers each year.
Top jig colors here are Pink/White, Pink/Chart., Red/Chart., and Black/Chart.![]()

I knew the lake would be up some, but 19 feet! DADGUM!
The campsite I have reserved will probly be underwater. Ha!
I'm gonna give my friends that run County Line park a call before I head over there.
Sounds iffy at best.
Too much water ,even NIMROD is'nt fishing now.
Better postpone your trip till the water drops if you are planning to Crappie fish.![]()
