    Default Theft issues?

Have any of you had any problems with theft of property at any lake or river you have been fishing? I keep hearing stories about while people were out in their boat, stuff was being stolen from their vehicles including the boat trailers at times. If you know of any please post where it happened. I know it has happened at Big Lake at Manila and on the St Francis river around Trumann and Marked Tree. Any place else?

My boss and I were up on Hamilton last weeks and had more things stolen than we thought could be carted off in 5 minutes. Brand new Hummingbird fish finder, ten poles, four of which were holding $200+ baitcasters, and about $700 worth of plastic worms. Pretty much the only thing they didn't take was the cooler. We just ran to the restroom and store to get some sodas!

I hope you filed a detailed police report. No video surveillance, I guess.

Would you please tell me where exactly the theft happened? Knowledge is power. I live near Hamilton and just would like to keep abreast of the issues. I keep my ear pretty close to the ground and you can never tell when something might come up that could that could solve this type of deal.

I would dearly love to see some of these morons come to justice! <><

Sorry it's taken me a while to get back on the forums. The largemouth around here have been going crazy!!!

The incident happened over at Kahuna. It wasn't exactly busy, but it wasn't completely dead, either. The more we think about it, the more it seems it may have been (God forbid) another fisher. There were several boats around that day and we think someone may have seen us tearing up the bass and got jealous. But, seeing as my boss is a former tournament fisherman, he just knows where the fish are. Nothing special about it. He used to fish on Hamilton every day of the week to keep track of the fish.

On a side note, we went to DeGray this weekend and came back to four flat tires on the trailer and three on the truck. Things are just getting out of hand. We've pretty much decided that we are just going to fish the oxbows around here for a while, atleast until the people doing these things start getting themselves caught.

I know the county Sheriff here is a big fisherman and has had some problems lately, too. He's added every backwoods, out of the way lake in the county to regular, hourly patrol. The last three times we went to Piedron, there's been a deputy there while we launched.

Also, I know not a lot of you guys are from around here, but Big Muddy, Little Muddy, and Little Johnson in Ouachita county are starting to get their crappie bites back up. We've seen a few guys limiting out in less than an hour. Once fall hits, it'll be alot better.

got my truck broken into on beaver two weeks ago. was at boat ramp off of 412, some shady people were fishing on the bank with a little kid, think it was them. My back glass was cracked-think they used there kid to slip through the window and unlock my truck- good start for that kid. Thought only some cd's stolen, but later discovered they stole my laptop.

Almost would make a fellow want to bait em up with a boat full of stuff, and sit back in the bushes with a 12 guage loaded with rock salt. Call the cops, right before unloading all 5 rounds, and tell the cops, they'll be easy to spot. Or on second thought, use your round of choice.......

    Man, I hate a theif.

Its a shame---I know a few good fishing spots--a couple are on federal property Corps Of Engr. no guards--I guess no patrols and no campers.---I am afraid to leave my truck and trailer unattended because of theft. Thieves know about these out of the way fishing sites. and they watch them, like Patterson Shoals on Little River close to Millwood is where a couple was murdered here awhile back while camping. It is shame that we are not allowed to be armed for protection, because occupants are not searched upon entry to camping sites. Camera,s would be a good idea, and I am sure a lot of sportman would contribute to the cause if asked--just increase the cost of licenses a couple of years.
