Let me make sure that I am getting this correct. Are you using the jig head (with no jig), and hooking the minnow?

Yes. We were using the unpainted jigheads with no body or plastics, and hooking the minnows though the mouth or eyes slow trolling. Some of the dead minnows we had I was hooking in the middle of them under the fin to add a injured look while we trolled. I won't promise great numbers of fish but verses just plain hooks I beleive they out fish them. At least here in clear water. The tin is shuney and this must be what gets the attention of the crappie. More shine equals more strikes.

Can you post a pic of the jigheads?
