I like what CEB did in stating all the various names for the same things. Some of it is just regional vernacular. I've always thought of spider rigging (slow trolling) is multiple poles in rods holders slowly trolling (pushing) an area. I call tightlining a single pole in hand with jig only. That is my favorite way of fishing. However, if you sneak around the lake this spring no doubt you'll find me pitching a minnow in the shallows under a cork. I like that basic old style too, especially when you want to hold that bait in one spot long that you can a jig without a float.
