Sounds like a good trip G and G, except the broken jig pole. Thanks for the report, and look forward to the pictures.

I went to Beaver Lake today and the crappie were really biting. I caught 48 crappie, and probably 35 of them were keeper size. I also caught a 30" striper by accident. It was in the brushpile I was fishing, and when it hit I just thought it was a good crappie. That was until it went on its first 20 yard run, and then I knew it was no crappie. After about a 10 minute fight, I was able to get the fish on the boat. During the last run the striper made, it broke my brand new B n M jig pole. As soon as I can, I will post some pics of the keepers for today.

A bad day of fishing
beats a good day at work.

I think B&M guarantees those rods not to break. Ask and you may receive a new rod.
If you're too busy to go fishing, you're too busy!
I'm hitting the river tommorow morning, I'll bet the'll be bite'n real good! G&G where do you fish? Maybe we can meet up.

Sounds like a good day except for the broken rod. I really like my B&M rods but I have broken one too! Talk about mess up a good fishing trip. Glad you got on some good ones.:D

I have been fishing up the white river arm. Most of my fish have come from the Blue Springs and Beav-o-rama area, but the water is getting muddy and starting to rise. I went fishing again today and caught 15 with 11 keepers, but the wind got real bad about noon so I had to leave. The areas I caught my fish on Thurs. got pretty muddy, so I had to move into Blue Springs. The water there is not as muddy, but the fish were holding about 15' deep and were real tight to the brush piles. I am not sure about the last couple of days, but I know that there were a lot of crappie caught this past weekend up the War Eagle river near Natural Walk.
I am not very happy about the warranty policy for the B' n M' jug pole though. I contacted them and asked about the policy and was told that I could either send it back to them for repair ($25 shipping and $10 warranty fee) or order a replacement half ($20 replacement fee and $10 shipping). Either way I am out atleast $30 on a $45 rod. I may have to look at another brand of rod to replace this one.
I use St Croix rods exclusively, and we broke 2 rods last year, my dealer just has me bring them to him and he ships them back, st croix has replaced both free of charge, or shipping. I know they stand behind their waranty

my family and I have been going to beaver lake for years, and will be back again in a couple of weeks but I have NEVER crappie fished anywhere. (in my entire life). I could use some suggestions on how to fish for them off a boat dock and what kind of bait to use. do you think the crappie fishing could be good from a boat dock? thanks, Rob
Fishing from a dock can be very good! If you have more than 20' of water under the dock and a brush pile or two you will most likly have crappie, if not a few bluegill, bass or catfish may bite. Minnows would be a good choice fished just off the bottom. Work different depths if that does'nt work. Good Luck!Originally Posted by plymouthrock

J.T., did you do any good this weekend. I drove down to the 412 bridge, but the water was really muddy. I talked to a couple friends that fish out there a bunch, and they said it was pretty slow. I have not heard how the war eagle was this weekend. It should still be clear.
