Contrary to my better judgment, lol, we were on the water today. It was 15 degrees when we left the house and about 20 when we hit the water. The wind was bitterly cold blowing strongly out of the east. On top of all that, the barometric pressure started at 30.52 and was 30.62 by noon.
David (grubby) and I was fortunate to catch Doug (slipcork) sneaking off to the lake for a quiet weekend get-away. Of course, we hung some jigs and drowned some minnows together.
David landed this 9lb.15oz. striper with a Russ Bailey Wizard Rod by BnM with 6lb. test Ande line:
Here's Doug and his wife with our mess of crappie and bass:

That's pretty sad, Doug. Am I to understand you have stooped to having your picture taken with someone elses fish??
Pretty sad.
There was a time before all your riches and fame when you would have caught your own!!!! LOLOLOLOL

Now, now. Once the guide finally got them on some hungry fish, Doug did his fair share of the catching too. At one point he was setting the hook on a fish with the jig pole with one hand and snatching up a minnow rig with the other. I was beginning to wonder if we were going to catch any fish at all. We had hit about a dozen spots, only caught a few little spotted bass, it was still colder than a . . ., and the wind was keeping us off the best spots. At about noon Jerry called and said he had found a place that was perfectly out of the wind and the fish were biting. After that, it didn't take long. It was fast, furious and fun.Originally Posted by titleman

Beautiful fish!!! You guys are tough. I wussed out and stuck pretty close to the fire the past couple of days. The cold and wind were just too much.
How Grubby landed that striper on 6lb test is a test of skill...which Grubby obviously has.
Nice fish! I thought I was the only one crazy enough to be out this weekend but instead of fishing I was standing waist deep in the duck woods!
Ready to get going on some of those as soon as duck season is over!
It's hard to believe that boy (Slipcork) didn't sink your boat. His pockets are so full of gold from all that work he's been doing that he's had to start bank fishing.Originally Posted by Darryl Morris

I was one of the crazy ones as well. I did manage to do something Sunday morning that I haven't done in 15 years....I fell in.. And I mean hat floating FELL IN! I managed to make it till 10 with the help of a extra pair of gloves from one buddy and a jacket from the other. The 20 min boat ride was another story!Originally Posted by Heavy Chevy

I hope you weren't by yourself out there when you fell in. I bet that was not a fun fishing trip.
