    Default SE Arkansas Crappie

I may be up for a trip to visit the in-laws this weekend. Just wonderin' if anyone has any good scoop for the lakes in SE Arkansas. I got a call from Southern Chuter earlier this evening and found out that he is a CC through the weekend. Hopefully he will have some good news this week.

But, just in case CC isn't producing...Anyone heard anything about Monticello, Morgan Point, or any other lakes in the area??? Any reports would be much appreciated...

Chris, it's been slow at CC lately from my experience and from the reports I've heard. The last time I went I caught 1 and Lucky was fishing for catfish, had given up on crappie and steve had already left without a bite. I'm going to take off Friday and go to Chicot and try to catch some where I caught them early last year. I have had a few good reports from down there. I went to M. Point a couple of weeks ago and didn't do any good, but with the colder water temps they should move into the deep holes there at the ramp.
I haven't heard anything about L. Monticello but will ask around and see if anyone is doing anything in the deep water yet and give a report if I hear anything.

    Default Hey BobberWatcher

You could take the girls fishing... I am sure they would like it, especially since it will be 70+ degrees in December!!!

    Default Arkansas River

I've been sticking to the river. They have been running some water. Casting jigs in the tailwater of Shepards Island dam early and late in the day. Been putting fish in the freezer but nothing to brag about yet. I live a couple miles from the north bank so I can get down there and back without even being missed at least she says she didn't know I was gone. Jim.

Thanks for the report Jim, I used to catch crappie and sauger below #2 dam casting a double jig rig before they put in the hydro plant. I still fished it some when they let drive across the hydro part to the dam, after 9/11 they quit letting you drive over there. Too far to walk carrying all you tackle.

Allen, You just sang my song. The longer we keep the grand kids, it seems the more I get stuck baby sitting on the weekends. Don't get me wrong; my wife has been great with the kids. If they are awake, they are climbing the walls and wearing her name out. When I try to get her to feel sorry for me because I am not fishing as much as I used to, she says....
"I have never told you that you can't go"...........as she is tapping her foot with folded arms.
Yea right. I might look stupid. But, I arne't that stupid.

Same here on that line. My wife tells me that she has never said that I can't go. If I want to roll in the sheets, I stay home. If I don't care, I go fishing!

I would normally take them fishing, (and still might). I just don't like to take both of them out at the same time. IF something tragic was to happen, it would be a little easier getting to one of them and getting them safe, but 2 of them would be a bit tougher. During the summer, I don't worry about it too much, but the water temps are a little cool right now. I may try to talk my neighbor into coming along with me, who knows...
