Gave The Crappie A Break Today

and took my wife and 9-year-old for a drive up to Mount Magazine State Park - http://www.mountmagazinestatepark.com/. They've really fixed the place up since the last time we were up there. The lodge is very, very nice and it looks like the new cabins are too.

It's not a bad drive from Hot Springs. We went up on Highway 7 (stopping for a look at Nimrod), and came back on Highway 27 (taking a couple looks at Ouachita).

I took a few pictures from one of the scenic overlooks.

Great pics, Jerry. I've been wanting to get over there ever since they finished the new lodge. I saw a story on it and it looked like 5-star. And, I'll bet them crappie are sure glad you took a day off...:D

Great pictures. Sure a great time to get out and see the leaves.
Nimrod is down right now and fishing is mostly slow. We are hoping for some fresh water soon , maybe it will help. Anyone fishing at low levels better be careful with all the shallow spots and stumps.

Jerry you should have brought the boat and fished Blue Mt Lake. I hear its quite the crappie hotspot. LA Bill touts it as one of his 2 favortie of all time.

By the way I have quite a bit of info pics and clippings from the first lodge up on Magazine as my great grandfather was the man who ploted out and over saw construction of the first lodge up there in addition to Blue Mt Lake. I need to get that stuff up to the guy that runs the musem there on the Mt.
