Default A few from Little Maumelle

Decided to head out for a little while this morning. Good seeing you out there Jhook. Sorry I didn't bs with you more, didn't realize that y'all were leaving until you were crankin' up the motor and scootin' out. It was a nice morning up until about 10am, when all the folks started riding up and down the river. There was even a big ski boat out there running the same 300yd stretch for 30 min...that's just aggrevating!

The crappie started off pretty slow, picking up one here and one there. Started picking up a couple from each of my spots as the morning went on. Found almost all the crappie in 14-15' of water about 13-14' deep. Started fishing at 7:30 and finished up at 2:00 when I ran out of bait. Ended up with 17 crappie and released a pair of 3lb channel cats. Lots of mini stripers and yellow bass. Not too much size to the crappie, especially considering the tug of CC crappie from last weekend. But they were all good eaters.

You should feel bad. I'd trade my trip to the river just to sit out there at CC and watch y'all. Wouldn't even mind not catching a single crappie...

And the best thing of all about CC....NO BOAT RIDING!

Man that is the perfect eating size. Don't have to cut the fillets down any. Just biding my time at work until I can get on the water again...Rick

    Argh...

We were planning on Little Maumelle yesterday, but went to Nimrod instead. Caught 9 babies and 1 nice catfish.

ceb, what part of the river were you on? Between Arkansas and the marina?

Also, what is cc? If its a Central Arkansas only secret, you can PM me.:D

Sorry to be such a newb about such things.

You just never know until you go. I didn't expect much out of the Little Maumelle, and in fact I was thinkin' about not even going.

I fish the channel ledges from the boat ramp at I430 to about 200 yds inside of the mouth. We have a few bamboo piles that we've put out in the past in that stretch. If I meet up with you out there sometime, I'll give you the tour of our spots.

CC is Cane Creek. It's a pretty good secret hole. You should join us for our gathering down there next weekend.

Chris - you did well for the Little Maumelle. Yeah, Fran and I had to get in get a bunch other stuff taken of, plus had to go to a wedding Saturday afternoon. We only kept three from that morning.

I went back at daybreak today and fished for three hours and got skunked, except for a dozen of the little yellow bass. The ski boat guy was back by mid morning running up and down river. I'm thinking grenade.

Hope to make next saturday. Have to see how this weeks goes. I'll let you know and bring some sides.

    J
