Chris - I'm looking at my outdoor atlas. Where are you talking about meeting .. or holding this shindig...the state park access at the end of highway 293? Looks like there another access area just north of the one at the end of 293?

Lookin' forward to it, Ray. I have a couple of tests at the end of next week, so I'm free and clear of almost all responsibilites as of next Friday. It should be a fun and relaxing weekend.Originally Posted by bryophyte
As far as techniques go, I've seen folks use all types of techniques out there. I've seen 'em use the float-n-fly, tightline jigs, cast jigs, slo-troll a jig pole in each hand, and minnow fish using all of the above tactics. As far as I know, I'm the only one that uses the spider-rig tactic. And the great thing is that I've seen fish caught on all of the above techniques.

Good question. I know that I had the same question before my first trip down there. It will be at the State Park, which is on the southern side of the lake. You will turn onto Hwy 293 (only 1 way to turn) off of Hwy 425. You will make a left hand turn about 5mi down. There are signs marking both turns.
Once you turn into the state park, the first right will take you into the campground. The second right will take you to the boat ramp.
I made reservations today for campsite 15, Kathy and I will be there Friday and leave Sunday. Will bring some firewood, hopefully it will still be cool enough for a fire. It's going to be a good time, looking forward to seeing everyone there.
A bad day of fishing
beats a good day at work.

Well....I sure would like to make it. Maybe one of these days I will be able to meet some of you. Yall need to stop scheduling these on opening weekends of hunting seasons.:D :D Spring camp was on opening weekend of turkey season, and this one is on opening weekend of deer season.![]()
OK. Yeah. Those directions sound like a guy who's been training in ob-gyn.Originally Posted by ceb
I still have 29.00 from the first gathering if you guys want it for a cookout. I will be in the deer woods with little Gooch so I cant make it.
I will get there about 5am and bring the plates/forks/spoons and Tabasco. Looking forward to it.
Sounds good, So Chuter. We appreciate you taking care of the "tableware". Look forward to seeing you there bright and early. If you don't make it by 5am, that's ok too.
And to everyone that plans to attend...As the time gets closer and we see who all is gonna come, I will private message everyone the cell phone numbers of myself and Jerry.
That sounds perfect. I looked in my phone today and couldn't believe I only had Gooch's number and not your's and Jerry's, lol. Gooch, why is your name and number in all capital letters with speed dial number 1 assigned? I'm leaving my attendance open ended for reasons ya'll know, but by Thursday or so I will know more and I'll make calls then to see what's needed for the feed. Send your numbers now please.Originally Posted by ceb
David (the confused, ugly Okie cousin of mine, grubby) called the other night while he was standing on the flightline at Tinker AFB telling me he and Jason are making plans to come. If they are able to make the trip they will drive from OKC after work on Friday and get to my condo in Hot Springs at wee hours of the morning. We'll then transfer gear to my truck and finish the trip from Hot Springs to Star City. We'll fish all day and decide then if we'll stay the night. If there's no campsites available, make room boys.
Anybody else who might think it's too far or too much trouble just doesn't know what it's worth. Opening weekend of the gun hunt I cannot comment upon. I understand both but one must rise to the top. Anyway, I can't think of a smarter man and a man of more integrity than David and Jason. And they are, god willing, going to make the trip of nearly 8 hours just to fish for a day. Oh, and watch me out catch them as usual, lol. I'll do it if I have to tie onto the back of CEB's boat, LOL.
