best thing to do with bank fishing is know where the wind is blowing. if it's up a bit lots o time they will push shad up against the bank and the crappie will be just off of them coming in to feed on them. Fall time fishing along the rip rap especially if you know where some structure is productive. use a beetle spin or road runner to cover a lot of different water depths till you find them.
Also if you have docks in area to hit they are my favorite this time of year. keep probing corners and in shade vertical jigging or pitching out to end and lettin it drop to different depths and bring it back slowly till you find them. have to move a lot but that shouldn't be a problem. Or if lifts in water work up and down those as that is structure too until you find the depths they are holding at. or in front of them I have had a lot of success doing. that.
