    Mike,

there are crappie in plum bayou, and there is a ramp off 161 past clear lake. there are signs that show where it is. there are actually 2 ramps for plum bayou, and the other ramp is a separate area that's longer. both are very good spots, & it is very beautiful out there. the only thing is plum bayou is very skinny, so if anyone else is out there, the courteous thing is to slow down & not "jet" by anyone. The other thing about plum is that when it rains (although not recently) the bayou muddies up a lot & can do some weird things to the pattern for fishing. Clear lake has a pay launch also, so if you want, you can try there also. Good fishing opportunities are there. It does get a lot of duck salad in the summertime, and there are a TON of cypress trees on plum bayou. Hope this helps.

Thanks Randy! I've fished Clear Lake several times, looking for a back-up in case the crappie aren't doing much at Clear. Don't have to worry about me in my 2-man stirring up too big a wake:D it's the other non-courteous yahoos that get on my nerves. I here alot of people taking bout dem green carp at Plum, and usually where there is a good healthy bass pop. the crappie fishing is good too. May slip over there Sat. ....which would ya'll try first???
    Thanks, Mike

if you've never been on plum bayou, it's worth checking out. I think clear lake may have a little bit better fishing, probably a little bit less pressure than plum. If you can make it over to the other ramp, (not the one down from clear lake) it's a much more beautiful area. if you go down hwy 256, it's a little bit over 5 miles to the other ramp. there is a agfc sign to tell you where to turn, & a mile or 2 down a dirt road is the ramp. it's pretty easy to find. agfc has a concrete ramp down there, so no one should have any trouble getting in / out of there. it's worth checking out.

What is the river doing to these areas? It is ripping today and I was wondering if it flows through Clear lake when it gets high.

I'm not sure if clear lake is fed from plum bayou, but plum bayou is fed from the river. the river is rolling along real high right now. Probably will suck water out of the little maumelle again. The last fishing report stated that clear lake was low, so i don't think it is fed by the river or plum bayou.

Plum bayou is a major water source for a lot of the farmers in the england area. if you drive the back roads in & out of there, you will see numerous relift pumps getting water out of it to keep their fields wet. In the mid section of the bayou that is accessed on the hwy 256 side, you can always see the water being pumped in during the summer months. I don't know how it does in the winter, b'cause I haven't fished p.b. very much. My guess is it will be sort of muddy right now. I do know that the river is real brown when i cross over the 440 bridge going home every day. Last time I was on plum, the water was like chocolate milk. Made for very tough fishing. I think you would have to use something real bright &/or loud, like a chatterbait, crankbait or rattle trap or use something real bright chartreuse or maybe black.

Randy, I used to have a favorite color tube for muddy water... it was an almost black, dark gray tube with silver sparkles. I can't find any anywhere. I called Midsouth who makes "Super Jigs", but they said they couldn't make that color
    Thanks again Randy
