    Default Morgan Point today 6-10-07

I went back to Morgan Point this morning, and started fishing the tops with jigs that I caught some good crappie yesterday. I caught several fish but all dinks. I didn't catch a keeper until 10 am, then I caught 8 keepers, 5 were good crappie. I caught all the keepers casting roadrunner with a very slow retrieve. I don't know if it was because it was slow or that it went deeper.

Sun coming up over the trees.

    View of the lake.

    Todays catch.

A couple of the best ones.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

    A bad day of fishing
beats a good day at work.

Jerry, you are something else, I knew once you got your health back in check you would be filling the Arkansas board with great post again.
Congrats on your catch and you and everyone else be careful in this heat.
You can't fish with a hung line!

Nice fish there Jerry that's proof that crappie can be caught when it's in the 90's F. Was down at Chicot the past few days, nothing was going on there except for the catfish so I didn't even try the crappie. I'm stating to wonder about my favorite fishing lake couldn't even get the bream to bite. I also don't know why whoever is in charge of the lake insist on dropping the level down about 2 feet in early spring every year and leaving the level that way all summer. Still had a good weekend though. Keep those pics coming.

Glad to see that you're back at 'em, Jerry. Those are some nice slabs for sure. As far as the retrieve, I would guess it was because the RR was going deeper. Hot water crappie usually have no problems chasing down a fast bait. Next time you might want to try a heavier RR with a spit-shot and retrieve it at normal speeds or faster. That would definately give you a clear answer.

Also, be sure to check shallower water and/or shallower in the water column during the early morning hours.

Hey KG, I haven't been to Chicot lately, but heard yesterday that they are really doing good on your old backyard lake. Catching some good ones out in the middle, going to have to give it a try.

Fine fish Jerry! That's a beautiful lake too! My kind of water! Back about 4 or 5 years ago you'd have been my dad's new best friend catching those crappies on his birthday. Keep'em coming!!

I see alot of posts about m. point. Where is it located? And is the bream fishing any good there this time of year?

    Thanks in advance.
