I don’t get to fish a lot because of work but took off Tuesday and went to Nimrod. Went up river to find stake beds and brush that someone put out years ago. Live scope and way points took me to the spots Fish were three feet away from the brush piles.
Dropped my Jimmy Joe blue and white jig down to them and it was on. Fished three piles and four stake beds. I believe I caught at least fifty, that’s just a guess l didn’t own a counter. Swung them in with my Bucks Ultra Light and Jimmy Joe blue and white jig. They were only six to ten inches though. As I was headed back to first brush pile saw something on the bottom, thought it was a catfish but dropped old blue on its nose and bam had to net him 15 inch crappie. Started searching the bottom and put 21 more in the ice chest 13 to 15.5 long. Guess I got lucky but I believe there are lots of big crappie in the lake if you look in the right places. Only saw four boats but it was a work day. I think there are more fishermen now than three years ago and will be more fishermen three years from now than they are now. Just makes sense to me. Couldn’t decide what to do with them, haven’t cleaned a crappie in a while. Decided to keep them because a lot of people do. Took them home cleaned and cut up and gave to a older woman that can’t go and wanted some. My wife
