The challenge is getting greater. The scopers are going straight to the fish, the guess work of locating them with side or sonar is pretty much over unless you're hitting new water. Targeting the larger fish has totally changed. You just go right to them and then 10 other fisherman do the same within a weekend, thats the problem. Now the fish are headed south either on the bottom or deep in a pile or on bottom at bases of trees where you cant always see them. More and more fish are taking to the bottom from the pressure. I hit the hot lakes around here and the easy pickings are all but gone. Now you have bounce a jig off the bottom and you see one suddenly jump straight off the bottom and you get bit or they get spooked. With everyone literally targeting the choice fish, they're getting smarter and more skiddish and they will hide from the pressure and solely start feeding at night if pestered enough during the day. Im as quiet as I can be solo fishing on cloudy days and I still see them turn from me at 20+ feet. Dont throw away your trolling or spider rig setups just yet, it may be very useful in the days to come.
