Remotes are great for following contours, long lining, pulling cranks, etc. If you are not doing all that, you may not need remote. I have an Ultrex and love it. I like the spot lock feature as well as the remote but I fish a little different than most. I use the pedal a lot but I always have the remote with me. I'm not trying to sway you either way. I think you have to look at how you will fish or what you want to set up for.
I do just about the same with my ulterra
I primarily push jigs/minnows with 8 rods. Usually just clip the remote to a rod rack for when needed. Use the remote about 50% of the time and foot pedal the other. Can use the console humminbird for stow and deployment

Foot pedal is not as responsive as traditional cable trolling
Motor pedal. Great for contours. If I were a single pole’r I don’t think I’d like using the hand remote.
