Which trolling motor?

I got a new boat and trying to decide which trolling motor I want to put on it - need some input. Curious if you guys use foot pedal or remote or combination - so again which do you use and why. For years I have used a motor guide and got use to a foot operated pedal however on our trout boat it has a terrova and I use that remote some. I am looking at the new motorguide pro tour, lowrance ghost or a minnkota ultrex - I have been told with these models the foot control is more responsive. Also in considering a trolling motor which type is more useful in chasing down fish with livescope. Again I would appreciate you guys comments

Remotes are great for following contours, long lining, pulling cranks, etc. If you are not doing all that, you may not need remote. I have an Ultrex and love it. I like the spot lock feature as well as the remote but I fish a little different than most. I use the pedal a lot but I always have the remote with me. I'm not trying to sway you either way. I think you have to look at how you will fish or what you want to set up for.

I do just about the same with my ulterra
I primarily push jigs/minnows with 8 rods. Usually just clip the remote to a rod rack for when needed. Use the remote about 50% of the time and foot pedal the other. Can use the console humminbird for stow and deployment

Foot pedal is not as responsive as traditional cable trolling
Motor pedal. Great for contours. If I were a single pole’r I don’t think I’d like using the hand remote.

1. the ulterra foot control works like the terrova, except the ulterra has auto deploy and trim
2. if you will be using Garmin LiveScope and buying a new tm regardless then the Garmin Force makes the most sense, it will integrate with the LiveScope head unit and the force has a brushless motor, which is much less likely to introduce interference problems than the minkotta's and the force remote has the "point where you wanna go" feature that no one else has. the force has the best cable management and a wireless foot pedal.
3, I went from a terrova to an ulterra, and can't give up the auto deploy/trim of the ulterra

Guys thanks for your input. For years I have used a foot controlled motor guide trolling motor. After watching several video comparisons and reading a lot of reviews on the new tm's I have decided to buy the new Motor guide Pro tour model. This new model now has Pinpoint Gps which is their version of spot lock. Also the power button is on the right side of the foot control ( all of the MK models are on the left side ). At the end of the day it came down to the Lowrance ghost, the MK Ultrex or the pro tour but I chose the Motor guide. I shopped the prices from several different sources and Brian at BBG marine had the best deals.

I have a Force on my river boat and I think I’ll like it. I don’t have much time with it yet. I really like the wireless foot control. Ties in with Garmin electronics real well.
