Monday morning and a blue around 12 didn't weight them. Caught 25 total cats for both days. Fish fry is coming. I'm going crappie fishing this afternoon, so maybe have some pics. this evening.

I caught them flatheads on Arkansas River using a forty drop trot line. Actually in Vache Grass Creek (between Barling and Lavaca) where the creek and river water was meeting behind the levy. The river is rolling after all that Oklahoma rain last week. Was using perch. Talked to a commercial fisherman and he was catching alot of cats on his lines.

Awesome catch Timmy Tom. Those flatheads are my second favorite fish second only to the Crappie. Looks like we all could learn a thing or two from you on how to get em in the boat.

Flatheads out of clean water in winter don't get too big for us. They beat larger Blues and Channels hands down. Water quality is a big factor in all fish's flavor. Hot Algea ladden waters of summer give fish an off taste. I've caught some big Flatheads (40 to 60 lbs) that were good . As in all fish proper preperation goes a long ways.:D

I noticed the river fish taste a little better then the lake cats I sometimes catch. Thought it was moving water? Even though they dredge sand and stones up on the other side of lock dam 13 and water is usually stained pretty bad. Yep I had a wonderful few days of relaxing and not having a care and caught well all species of fish I like to catch. Crappie all spring, bluegill before nesting just getting to get better, largemouth bass saturday morning (which I threw them things back) and now a mess of catfish. So I'm asking myself hmm what is going to go wrong now? Ha.
