Fishing has been pretty good the last couple of months and I thought it was high time that I shared some of our experiences. February and early March the prespawn period was challenging to say the least - as the lake yo yo 5 - 8 ft. and scattered the fish - you would literally have to go hunt them down. We caught fish in areas that they are not usually in - in February and early March. In late March we found some water temps a little above 60 degrees and as you can tell from one of the cooler shots we began to catch colored up males on beds. These areas were limited and as temp dropped it seemed as though the spawning activity slowed dramatically. However, the females loaded with eggs were still out in deeper water. Now for a little tip to maintain social distancing which most of you old timers already know-if you stick a good fish, and boats are driving by, do not land him just keep a tight line because you will draw a crowd.
