In fact we have stayed away from a big fish pot on our Central Arkansas crappie gatherings for this very same reason. Think about this. If we are fishing for money CEB or LR Joe who fish the Little Maumelle the most are going to be tight lipped about what the fish are doing because they would want to win the money. If we were fishing our usuall crappie gathering they would take bouy markers and point out locations that all would catch fish. Tourneys make it a me and not we event and that was the specific reason we started having these gatherings to help others catch fish on unfamiliar waters. Count me in for attendance if my schedule permits and I will sure dish out my share of bs. I may be dumb but I have enough sense to keep my money in my pocket when the area pro chalenges me to a wager. I will just save my 20.00 for food at the May gathering.
    Very well put...

Well, just thought that we could have some fun. But the motion has been po po'ed. How about we just all meet, fish, eat, and poke fun at each other?

I'm new to this board and feel like I don't have much say, but I'm with Gooch. My experience is anytime you add money to the equation the skin thins (if you know what I mean). I'm in, but think I'll pitch my 20 in the pot for the fish-n-eat.
    Gotta love it!

I completely agree with you guys. I know that as of right now, we have a lot of good folks in attendance at our get-togethers. If it stayed just like it is now, I wouldn't expect any troubles out of any of us. However, once you start putting money in the mix, different crowds will be drawn from the woodworks. It is these people, who may not place camaraderie at the top of the priority list, that worry me. We've got a good thing going right now, and we will just have to wait and see how it develops...

And, longarm, you should post all you want. I'm sure you have much to say. Hope we can meet you sometime this month...

Now even though most agree that tourney fishing is not for most of us I feel like a jerk for making my post. I'm sure that camaraderie (thanks for spellin that for me CEB) was ultimately in the mind of LR Joe and I want to publicly apologize if I offended him by my post as that was not my intention.

Prior to CEB and myself heading up these fish and eats I spoke with several members of crappie.com who have and are currently heading up there respective crappie clubs. From what I found its a nightmare that takes to much time and effort and ultimately cost freindships and relationships at times. I just dont want to be apart of that. If these fish and eats ultimately lead to a crappie club and some occasional competitive fishing so be it. I will jump in head first and help out if I can, just dont count on me at the weigh in unless I can bring my mother in-law to the scales.

For $20 dollars I'm in on the mother-in-law bet

Ceb not only nailed the spelling, he picked the perfect word

    ca·ma·ra·der·ie (kä'mə-rä'də-rē, käm'rä'də-rē) Pronunciation Key
    n. Goodwill and lighthearted rapport between or among friends; comradeship.

CEB hasn't even finished his schooling yet and he is already using them big words like the doctors use......lol...
I would have to agree also about the money thing. It will bring out the beast in alot of people. Looks at the bass anglers that fish tourney's. I say bring 20 dollars worth of food, drinks, charcoal, or something like that and yall just go and FISH and Eat and have a good time.
You can't fish with a hung line!
