    Default Chicot

My week off at Lake Chicot was a mixture of cold fronts, rain, wind, muddy water, and a slow bite. What I know about crappie fishing was not enough, only managed to catch a couple of small crappie. Weather looks like its getting better now, just in time to go back to work. Has anyone been doing any good?

I was talking to a freind that spent 14 days on Degray. He said he normaly fills his gas tank every other day with all of the fishing he does this time of the year. The last couple of weeks he burned 1/2 tank and didn't even leave the campsight most of the time.
My luck has been they same. I sure wished I had of drug my boat with me this morning to stop by the fishing hole this afternoon. I might sneak back down to Greeson this weekend.

Yeah you didn't have a good week to fish, it seems like when you pick out a week ahead of time the weather don't cooperate. I haven't been back to Chicot in the last 2 weeks, and haven't had much success anywhere. Weather looks like it will be good this weekend, so I'll be fishing somewhere.

    A bad day of fishing
beats a good day at work.

when were you fishing on chicot? i was down there last tuesday and wednesday. on tuesday the rain moved in and we finally managed to catch 6 when the rain let up that afternoon. wednesday we had beautiful weather but the wind was blowing 20-30mph. we got lucky and found some fish in the bayou on the banks out of the wind and managed 30 keepers. they were running smaller than earlier in the year and we threw back 15 or so under 10 inches but we did have several nice big females that had already dropped some eggs.

I got there on Thursday the 12th, and fished Connely, then did most of the rest of my fishing on the south end. The ones that I did catch were also smaller than the ones in March. I know there is no shortage of yellow bass, I bet we caught over a 100, seems like it's getting over populated with them.

we tried the cypress trees south of the levee but they did not seem to be in there. usually when you catch the yellow bass really well is when you catch the crappie from what i have noticed. where do you stay down there?
