I'm going to make some assumptions, but only with the intent to help you catch some crappie. Since you're a bass fisherman, I'm assuming your going to be using a roadrunner and casting the bank. If so, in my opinion a 1/4 oz is too heavy, you would have to do a pretty fast retrieve to keep from dragging the bottom the whole time unless it's deep but even then I think the fall would be too fast. I would recommend using a 1/16th and no more than a 1/8th oz jig head with a slower retrieve. And you may be using a 1/4 oz because you're using bass fishing equipment, if so I would recommend using lighter set up with around 6 lb test mono. If you're going to use a spinning reel, personally I hate mono on a spinning reel, so I use 10 or 20 lb braid, preferably superslick. Others may want to add some better advice for you as well. But if I'm correct on these assumptions, I think a few adjustments will help you catch more crappie.![]()
