Most Lowrance fish finders require the .usr file to work.

Also, I have identified an issue with Humminbird that our GIS department wasn't aware of. They should have it fixed soon. After downloading a .hwr file, it must go in a folder called matrix or the Humminbird fishfinder will not recognize the .hwr files.

Humminbird PC always asks for .gpx files. And then it converts and puts it into the matrix file ready for you to just place sd card and upload onto unit.

Yep, Hummingbird PC will also convert .usr and .hwr to .gpx before placing in the matrix file as a .hwr. We use Humminbird PC when people come into our office wanting coordinates loaded to their depth finder or memory card. However, there are a lot of people that can barely run their depth finder and a computer. So I suspect many of those just assume they can download the .hwr from our site and upload it directly to their depthfinder. That is why I am hoping our GIS will develop a method that incorporates the matrix file and angelrs can skip Humminbird PC all together.
