Conway 3-14
Well, just like Johnny off the LA board says....when rain or bad weather moves through, you can expect a post from me to follow. I decided to be at Gold Creek at first light on yesterday morning. I figured with a low of 60 degrees on Tuesday night, the fish would be tearing it up out there in the morning. But, fish didn't do anything all morning. The action finally picked up by early to mid-afternoon. From the past few trips, it seems there is a definite afternoon bite on Conway.
It's really strange where I found the crappie. I found all of them suspended about 1' deep over 11' of water. It seems as though they are at spawning depths within the deeper water column. I caught several males that were beginning to put their colors on. I caught all of them on small to medium sized rosies, none on jigs.
The quality of the fish was a lot better than the past few trips. It was probably 2 keepers for every 1 throwback. I took home a limit of 20, with one hawg and the rest 11" or so. The big fish of the day went 2lb 2oz, but it sure looked a lot bigger than that. She was mixed right in with the school of smaller fish.
Once again, I didn't get many pics on the lake. It rained on me the majority of the afternoon, and I didn't want to fry the camera. But, here are pics of the catch and the 2+ hog...
