Man the old Sassy Shads have been around for ever and they will catch anything that swims in the appropriate size. And yes the 3" has worked good at times for larger crappie. You just have to know sometimes you have to change sizes.
I have been wailing the fish on the Shadpole CT. I don't know the exact length of them but they are a beefier jig. But thrown in the middle of a shad school of 3" or so fish....it must look good cause they jump on it. Still have to have the right color though....Work better some days on roadrunner head...
If you follow the bass circuits at all in the last twenty years you see articles all the time on going big... or down sizing....same for all fish.
Let them tell you what they want that day...good pattern develops can last for months sometimes.
It's nice when a pattern holds and you can fish the same bait for long stretches with good success.
But sometimes a change will make you work to figure them out...that's all part of it and good for us too I think. Don't want anything in life to come too easy all the time...at least that's what I hear LOL..
