Thread: Greeson

They are moving up fast on Greeson. We found quite a few suspended over staging beds in 9 to 15-feet of water. We didn't try anything real shallow but I'm sure they are moving in to the banks. By mid-afternoon we had surface temps over 60 degrees in the main channel. Unless we get a significant cool-down the spawn will be on shortly.

Here's the 45 crappie from 10 to 15-inches and a black bass we kept this morning:

If you have been following the side scan thread on the main board, you know I have a severe case of puppy love over the side scan possibilities. As the resident GURU of all things sonar, two questions....
1. What do you think of the Hummingbird Side Scan?
2. Do you see anything about using it in shallow water (4-6 ft) that would change your opinion?

I am supposed to be in Shreveport on the 19th of March. I'm feeling an itch to go to BASS PRO!

Hey Mike:

The side imaging sonars look great to me. I would think they would be indispensable for someone fishing new water all the time but I don't know how much they would benefit for someone that sinks all their own cover. I'd like to see on in operation - in areas I fish. Maybe we can get someone to bring one to Crappie Camp and demonstrate it for us.

I agree with the new water comment, but I've seen several screen shots showing minor depth changes that I think would be really critical in shallow water. Also the pic on the main board that shows the spawning beds is pretty amazing.
I wonder just how straight a course you have to run to get a good read.
